Postgraduate Students
Cathy ZHU Xiao
Cathy completed her Bachelor of Science in Medicinal Chemistry at China Pharmaceutical University in 2016. Then, she worked as a research assistant at Beijing Leading Pharm Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (China) in the same year. She completed her Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry with Merit at Loughborough University (UK) in 2018. She joined our group in January 2019, having been awarded the NUS Research Scholarship.
Darren PHUA Guan Ge
Darren obtained his Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) with Honours at NUS in 2019 before joining our group in the same year to pursue his PhD. He will undertake a collaborative project with Roquette Asia Pacific Pte Ltd to work on plant-based materials, under the Economic Development Board Industrial Postgraduate Programme (EDB-IPP).
XU Jian
Xu Jian completed his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2016. Then he completed his Master degree of Pharmaceutics at Shanghai Institute of Materia and Medica, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019. After that, he was employed as a marketing manager at Abace-Biology Company. He joined our group in 2020, having been awarded the NUS Research Scholarship.
Dhanya Mahalakshmi MURALI
Dhanya finished her Bachelor’s degree (M.Sc. Hons. Chemistry) from BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus in 2019. Then, she worked as a research scientist in the Analytical R&D division at Eywa Pharma Pvt. Ltd. India for a year. After which, she completed her Master of Science in Chemistry from NUS in 2021. Dhanya joined our group in 2022 January, having been awarded the NUS Research Scholarship.
Sarah TAN Si Kai
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Science (Life Sciences) with Honours at NUS in 2021 December. She joined our group in 2022 and will undertake a collaborative project with Roquette Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, under the Economic Development Board Industrial Postgraduate Programme (EDB-IPP).
YU Peiyan
Peiyan completed her Master in Engineering – Biosciences at Institut national des sciences appliquées (Lyon, France) in 2013. She joined our group in January 2022 after several years in industrial R&D, having been awarded the NUS Research Scholarship.

Nhan Dai Thien TRAM
Nhan completed his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with Honours at NUS in 2017. Prior to that, he was a recipient of the A*STAR school-based Scholarship from 2009 to 2010. He joined our group in 2017, having been awarded the NUS Research Scholarship. He works as a postdoctoral research fellow after his graduation.
